If you break the tab then the whole assembly needs to be replaced, and replacing it involves disassembling the bumper. Changed headlight bulbs.

It turned out that the throw out bearing went out, and that is what trashed the clutch, so it was not really a maintenance trip. Clutch cost $500 just for parts. I took it to a hot-rod shop rather than a dealer but that may have been a mistake. They ended up draining the transmission oil, which is not supposed to be necessary, and they had to remove the front drive shafts, which I am not sure is necessary either.

Subaru dealer charged $150 for inspection and applied it all to clearing out clogged A/C drain tube. I left console light on all night, battery dead in morning, not even clicking. AAA charged up a little to get me started. Dealership did a slow charge and recommended replacing battery but after driving it for a week it was fully charged. Airbag light flashing intermittently on main panel codes 26 & S8 overhead pass airbag ctrl mod shorting out dlr replaced. I paid for it & complained to Subaru Corp, they promised to reimburse me. Filed complaint w/NHTSA bc common problem. Loud noise on tight turns, esp when starting up.
