Engine RPM would rapidly jump up 300-400 RPM and then the slipping would stop and RPM would slowly go back down. MPG also dropped by 5 MPG. No codes showed up on the Nissan Consult code reader, but I had them to replace the CVT fluid and the problem has gone away for now. My fingers are crossed as this is usually a precursor in the Nissan CVT transmission failure.
