This is an OK CUV whose main attraction is being a fair amount of car for the price, but not the car you want for long road trips
The car is very well optioned for the price
Love Kia's 10-year warranty and that I was able to get all the electronics warrantied for 10 years for just another $1500.
The car has generous storage compartments with USB connectivity.
Adequate room for my 100 lb dog for short trips in the cargo area become the 2nd set of seats
While the car does not feel all that "solid", the car has been relible and durable
Handling is just not that good and is most apparent on road trips or on any twisty road
Car feels unde-braked at highway speeds. Not a car I would drive aggressively at all
Seats are just not comfortable for any trips lasting more than an hour. I'm 6'1 and my wife is 5'6" and we both found the seats to be uncomfortable on long trips
Visibility is OK for this class of car, but the driving position is uncomfortable for longer drives
The audio is no better than OK. The infotainment center takes too long to start up and the requirement to check off the legal disclaimer for use at every start is tiresome. Controls are not particularly user friendly. One nit, we cannot connect two phones to the system. If it is possible, Kia has made it too hard to figure out
We dive a Sportage onto the street in front of the dealership and it followed every seam in the road. Continued to talk motorcycles with the sales as he used to sell bikes, or I would have turned around right away. We ended up buying a 2013 Buick Encore and really enjoyed the lease time.
