I won the argument and the 100 mo. warranted battery was replaced at no charge. So a battery and starter have been replaced, but the car wouldn't start again after another 5-day business trip. It sits in my garage. FINAL diagnosis: The culprit turned out to be the Hands-Free Link (HFL) which wasn't turning off. I removed it. Problem solved.
