2016 Ford Edge 4dr SUV

280-horsepower 3.5L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD

21000 mi The transmission has developed a bad "clunk" when accelerating from rolling start. If I am coasting up to a stop light and the light turns green the transmission will often clunk when I accelerate. There is a fairly severe lurch accompanying the noise. The best way I can describe this is it feels like a bad u-joint on a rear wheel drive car. The symptoms are very similar but since the Edge is FWD it shouldn't happen. The dealer re-flashed the transmission control module module with the latest software in an attempt to resolve this issue. It has improved some but still occurs.
