249000 mi | Main cylinder head gasket oil leak identified at routine oil change. Vehicle has been losing a quart every few thousand miles. At this time I have chosen to keep a case of oil in the trunk and monitor oil loss rate instead of repairing. |
254000 mi US $150 |
Pulley in idler bearing was making noise. Had it replaced. |
260000 mi US $30 |
belt squeal. had belt tightened. |

93000 mi US $173 |
'Leaking' coil caused intermittent misfire. Spark plugs replaced and 'de-coking' treatment at local mechanic's first ($180), didn't fix it. Then coil was replaced at dealer for amount above, fixed it. |
105000 mi US $480 |
Defective spark plug replaced. It had fried the coil that feeds it so it was replaced. A second coil was also missing intermittently so it was replaced. These were not the coils replaced last year. 76000 mi US $200 |
Valves needed an adjustment. On cold mornings the car would shake and stall. It's an automatic. I called the dealer and was told no way would the valves need an adjustment. Independent repair shop fixed it for me. |
90000 mi US $200 |

61000 mi US $305 |

160000 mi US $110 |
Gave the engine the commonly required Honda Fit valve adjustment because the car was stalling when you put in the clutch when the engine was cold (e.g.; car would stall when pulling up to a stop light). |
161000 mi US $1814 |
One or more of the valves was bad; was probably driven too long by the previous owner with out of spec valve clearances. Could have fixed the valve for $150 less; but engine replacement should be better in the long run. |
159000 mi US $1650 |
engine running rough. replaced spark plugs and 2 of coils |
128960 mi C $1400 |
misfire on cylinder 2. A fuel injector was dead and another was weak, so they were replaced. 2 bolts needed to be drilled out during the process. |
132782 mi C $225 |
replaced worn serpentine belt |
138000 mi US $900 |
Most of the exhaust system needed to be replaced, including the catalytic converter |
105400 mi C $300 |
First the exhaust pipe, just after the resonator, broke clean off without warning. It looked like it was sawn off. Upon removing it I found the flanges at the joint with the catalyser section were so thin that the catalyser had to be replaced too. Upon removing the cat section from the exhaust manifold I found more flanges/bolts so degraded that it was difficult to disassemble. The flange on the manifold is also quite degraded, but I decided to leave it. It seems that the muffler/catalyser/piping may be stainless and very durable. That is good, but the flanges, bolts and nuts all rust making repairs neccessary and extremely difficult. |
91760 mi C $250 |
Exhaust fell apart due to rust. New pipe from cat back. |
83700 mi C $1170 |
Replace ignition on column |
65000 mi US $100 |

78000 mi US $10 |
Vibration noise, a small metal plate on the exhaust manifold was partially detached. I had it removed. stop the noise and doesn't affect the car fonctions |
79000 mi | Check engine on. Use a code reader, the code was P2A00: Air-fuel ratio sensor. On the GD3 FIT it's the sensor on the exhaust manifold. Resetted the code, it came back the same day. Did reset a second time, the CEL came back on, every time P2A00. But this time call went out by itself. It is more than a month ago now and it had not returned. I wanted to test the resistance of the sensor, to see if it really gone bad, but it's not easy to get to it. I've heard that if the Valve lash are out of spec, this could cause a false A/f sensor CEL. My car has bad fuel economy for a couple of months now, so there's something going on. |
86200 mi US $225 |
Engine stutter, some misfire and unstable idle for couple week. No check engine light, but problem was evident. All symptoms pointed toward ignition coils. Changed the the 4 ignition coils for OEM quality ( hitachi) from rock auto ( more than 50% cheaper than from dealers). |
118500 mi US $440 |
Air fuel ration sensor failed. It's the second time in 5 years. unfortunately. I tried to change the sensor myself 5 years ago, because your save at least 100$ on the part alone. but unfortunately on the Honda fit it's very hard to reach and you need a lift to get under the car. so a 150-180$ job DIY become a 400$ one (Canadian). But garages as a good service also repaired tire leak and tested my battery/alternator. they winter is very cold this year. |
148000 mi US $50 |
serpentine belt broke on the highway. a friend brought me a new belt and my tools. we had the Fit back up and running an hour later. |
108000 mi US $400 |
Coils failed -- symptom was that the car "stuttered" when load was applied at 2000-3000 rpm. Awaiting results of full car inspection before fixing this issue. (Is cat converter poisoned? How much life does the clutch have left? etc.) |
85000 mi US $100 |
had a miss when engine was cold |
154000 mi US $130 |
Engine would sometimes stall after a cold start once the cold engine light went off and car was in neutral. Valve clearance adjustment was performed and remedied the problem. |
235000 mi US $500 |

Replaced brake drums and rotor. Also removed heat shield. |
13020 mi | manifold tore loose and causing noise at 3000rpm. |
83160 mi C $2429 |

175800 mi US $77 |
Alternator belt broke. Belt was replaced. |
201000 mi US $160 |
Engine light came on, for code P0401, which is EGR flow. Replaced the EGR valve, cleaned out all of the passages, and reset the engine code, but the light came back on within 10 miles of driving. |
220000 mi US $495 |
Check engine light was on. The dealer replaced the EGR valve, but this did not fix the problem. The engine code indicated the EGR valve or passages. |
25420 mi C $226 |
Replaced exhaust heat shield |
69200 mi US $500 |
oxygen sensor replaced |
50000 mi US $750 |
Bad coil caused rough running and rougher acceleration. Replaced. Was told this was a common occurrence, even below 50K miles, but was not covered by warranty. |
109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed automatic FWD
21000 mi | The V-TEC system started leaking oil in its hydraulic line. Dealership ordered parts and repaired everything in two days. Was given a brand-new Accord EX V6 for a loaner. Not a bad experience. |
80920 mi C $350 |
Car stalled regularly when engine was cold and put in gear. Problem resolved when engine warmed up. Required a valve height adjustment. |
31000 mi | Took car in to dealer to diagnose Check Engine light that had been on for several weeks. OBD code pertained to exhaust system. Dealer's diagnosis was that the catalytic converter was failing and needed replacement. |
33000 mi | New catalytic converter installed, covered under extended emissions system warranty. Very odd that car would fail after only about 30k miles. |
37820 mi C $55 |
Check fuel cap warning, followed by check engine light. Took to repair shop, not dealer. Determined that small cracks in rubber seal of (after market)fuel cap was source of problem. Replaced with new cap. Problem apparently solved. |
43400 mi C $880 |
Ignition Problem: Suddenly could not turn key in the ignition. Locksmith replaced the ignition system |
48460 mi | Went to start car and key would not turn in the ignition had the car towed to my local mechanic. Locksmith installed new ignition because the present one was under warranty. Had to pay for two new keys though. |
75000 mi US $350 |
Misfire. Engine stops when coming to idle.
Adjust valves |
54000 mi US $230 |
Failed ignition coil. |
106400 mi US $250 |
replace ignition coil |
88660 mi C $100 |
Manufacturer issue with coil. Causes car to stutter and or stall at RPM<1500. Safety issue and told not to drive, but supply problem for part from factory. Repaired as a recall, but no recall yet. Repair on coil believed to be warranty work, turns out it was not. Long delay in repair because parts not available. After repair, company came back asking for payment. Unhappy result. |
