2012 FIAT 500

2dr Hatch 101-horsepower 1.4L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD

Why the FIAT 500?

Exterior styling: Women practically assault me at the gas station to find out where I got the "cute" car. Women love this car! I've had plenty of masculine high performance cars, but none ever got as much attention from the women as this car.

Fuel economy: I'm getting 30 mpg on 91 octane 'gasohol' with the A/C on and driving only in a downtown area from stoplight to stoplight. The car will take 87 octane 'gasohol' and run fine. I get about 38 mpg on the highway with the A/C on...and it f

Front seat room: Great room in front seat, and I'm tall at 6 feet. There are still enough inches above my head to wear a hat. I think the comfortable adjustable seats could accomodate anyone. I bought the cloth seats and I prefer them to the leather seats in my other

Feature availability: The car come standard with so many 'options' that I only bought the optional automatic transmission, Bose satellite radio & spare tire. Tilt steering wheel and cruise control are standard. So is Bluetooth for the handsfree phone; it reads texts o

Materials & workmanship: This car is beautifully put together. Body panels fit perfectly, I haven't found anything that doesn't work correctly. Interior is both beautiful and functional. This car has been my first new car that never had to be serviced for a problem.

Why Not the FIAT 500?

Powertrain performance: It drives 'slowly' when new. As time goes by the engine loosens up and when you get accustomed to it's horsepower you can really make it fly. It winds up like a spring, all of the sudden you take off like a slingshot. It's a high-revving

Quietness: The car is quiet except for tire noise on rough pavement. It is much better than other cars I tested...but not as as good as my 2011 Lincoln MKZ.

Rear seat room & comfort: Rear seat is pretty small, but no smaller than most little cars. The seats do fold down for cargo.

Brand reputation & image: Fiat used to have a so-so reputation because their cars rusted. This car has a 'not-rust-through' guarantee for something like ten or twelve years and is totally galvanized metal. It is a very stylish car, too.

Discounts & incentives: I didn't get any discounts or incentives, but I only paid $ 18,500 for a car that was as well equipped as any I've ever owned. The dealer didn't have to sell me on the car; the car sold itself..it's warranteed for 4 years.
