Tiguan SE AWD A member from New Jersey, United States Best Reason to Buy the Volkswagen Tiguan: Materials & workmanship Everything is put together tightly and materials are high quality. Best Reason Not to Buy the Volkswagen Tiguan: Dealership practices Service has been a big problem at the dealership I purchased the vehicle at. Had in for second oil change under the free service plan and they broke something. A day later all the oil came out of the car and the engine seized before I could safely pull over on the interstate. Something cracked or fell off around the oil filter. Dealer replaced the engine but they handled the whole thing with no trail and refused to acknowledge they made a mistake. 2013 VW Tiguan A member from California, United States Best Reason to Buy the Volkswagen Tiguan: Powertrain performance Wanted a fun to drive sporty vehicle, yet needed good interior space since I have two teenage girls. Bounced between cars & CUV's. Found the Tiguan & was sold. Love the size, the spunk, acceleration, AND fuel economy. Wasn't sure about the leatherette seats, but after 4 months have come to like them. Averaging about 24mpg w/ mostly city driving. Pure freeway at 75 mpg yields close to 30mpg in San Diego. Best Reason Not to Buy the Volkswagen Tiguan: Audio & nav systems Worst sounding sound quality in any car I've heard in a long time. Absolutely horrible. So bad I cancelled satellite raio. Best Reason Not to Buy the Volkswagen Tiguan: Reliability & durability I've had it in the shop 3 times for parts replacements in 2 years: rear brake rotors in first 6 months, then oil pressure relief valve necessitating replacing entire head gasket, then faulty fuel pump relay. All covered by warranty, and they comp'd my rental car, but I'm worried about what happens when it's not under warranty anymore! Really comfortable for long drives and short ones around curves and potholes where I live. So much quieter than my last car. Best Reason Not to Buy the Volkswagen Tiguan: Dealership practices Had to order my Tiguan from the factory because VW dealers in my area don't stock many 4motions. Had to wait for an opening at the factory to order the car. Dealer experience was actually good however, and car was worth the 3 month wait. Various dashboard controls are quite intuitive. Panoramic sunroof a big plus in terms of interior illumination during daytime driving.
