A member from Utah, United States Best Reason to Buy the Toyota Prius: Fuel economy Bought this during one of the coldest winters in Utah. Still got 44 mpg. Weather is beginning to warm up now and get 47 mpg. Hopefully it will continue to go up in summer although the ac will maybe drive mpg down. Best Reason Not to Buy the Toyota Prius: Front seat support & comfort If you are much over 5 foot 10 inches tall, the drivers seat might get a little tight. Not much leg support either as the bottom cushion is very short. I hear the 2010 redesign helped with this. Since I use this car for not much more than an hour commute, I tolerate the seat as the rest of the car is so darn good. The trip computer was dead center of the dash, not the place I want my eyes while driving down the road. With the price of gas climing at the pump it was time to buy the Prius. Best Reason Not to Buy the Toyota Prius: Handling I'm not a fan of the electric steering on the Prius. It does not have a center point like other electric steering units that I've driven. The car always wants to drift side to side without having a center point. I am 6\'2\" and 250# and this is one of the most uncomfortable cars I have ever driven. Particularly, not enough leg room. A member from Oklahoma, United States Best Reason to Buy the Toyota Prius: Fuel economy Its very consistent. If I pay attention to how I drive it generally returns an average of 42-44 mpg (city). On long trips if you have a tail wind the mileage can easily get up to 60+ mpg. All that without any kind of hyper mile behavior. Best Reason Not to Buy the Toyota Prius: Handling It feels like the car is very disconnected from the road. Almost insulated. Switching from the OE Goodyear tires to another brand helps. The steering is slow and completely numb.
