The Matrix price represents good value for the features and quality.

Lease payments were very low.
20044dr Hatch 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
In the summer of 2007, I bought this car from a Lincoln-Mercury dealership that had taken it in trade - for $8,995. The car was (and still is) in excellent condition.
20034dr Hatch 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Climate control & stereo system in base model. Rear wipers and defrost should be standard. Rear window becomes translucent with heavy rain or snow, which can be cleared easily by 1-3 wiper cycles.
20034dr Hatch 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
The Matrix was an affordable car. At the time, there were very few options under $20k that met all our needs.
20034dr Hatch 130-horsepower 1.8L I4

It was pretty cheap to buy - $8000.

20114dr SUV 179-horsepower 2.5L I4
4-speed automatic AWD
Price was high, dealer did not offer much of a discount or was willing to work with me on my trade-in
20114dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
A base RAV4 is quite inexpensive. Fully optioned, the price can balloon by a third.
20084dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
No incentives
20084dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
V6 more. Not a fair comparison.
20074dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
A bit more than the crv, didnt want to wait 3 monthes for a custom built one from toyo corp since brother works there.
20074dr SUV 166-horsepower 2.4L I4
4-speed automatic AWD
Too pricey compared to a Honda.
20074dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic FWD
Almost $5000 more than a comparably equipped Santa Fe. Depreciation will be better, but I tend to keep cars long term so upfront pricing matters to me.
20064dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
Significantly higher price than comparable vehicles.
20064dr SUV 166-horsepower 2.4L I4
4-speed automatic AWD
The vehicle is somewhat expensive, but the value is high because it offers alot for that money.
20064dr SUV 166-horsepower 2.4L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Little more expensive than some competitors and no great financing rates either. I guess since the car is popular they know people will pay the extra.
20064dr SUV 166-horsepower 2.4L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
I have always thought that cars are way more expensive than they need to be. Toyota tends to be more expensive that most.
20064dr SUV 166-horsepower 2.4L I4
4-speed automatic AWD
The RAV4 was a bit more expensive than comparable cars.

What Our Members Are Saying about Toyota Matrix Materials and Workmanship

Available Features of the Toyota Matrix: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2007 4dr Hatch 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Solid. Good workmanship. I also like the plastic floor in the cargo area, which is easy to clean after transporting a muddy dog.
2003 4dr Hatch 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Feels solid and of a high quality
Materials and Workmanship of the Toyota Matrix: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Hatch 158-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Uninspired and the options when going from S to the XRS only seemed to focus on the musical components and tire profiles.
2007 4dr Hatch 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
rattles, from the first day. quality of workmanship and assembly was so poor. car was vibrating on idle like an old tractor. tried to fix the rattles - it was impossible. the dealer was useless and helpless as well. miserable car.
2007 4dr Hatch 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
low quality plastics. rattles from the first day of ownership. low quality material of steering wheel - becomes very cold during the winter. low quality fabric on chairs. very cheap and unsuitable OEM tires. car is shaking on neutral like crazy. :-(
2006 4dr Hatch 118-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic AWD
Cheap paint chips way too easy on front bumper and hood.
2004 4dr Hatch 173-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
Rattles galore on the interior. Car body was assembled incorrectly and resulted in a rubbing noise that required Toyota to cut out and replace entire A pillar from roof to rocker panel. Got rid of the car after as the warranty expired due to this issue.
2003 4dr Hatch 180-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
it was sloppily put together at the factory and was never a pleasant car to be in. Chrome bits on the dash were blinding.
2003 4dr Hatch 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
The interior is lined by a softish plastic; easily scored, marred, and scratched. However, for the cheap material, the trim and fit is tight.

What Our Members Are Saying about Toyota RAV4 Materials and Workmanship

Available Features of the Toyota RAV4: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
Mine has been 100% reliable with no repairs needed beyond normal servicing. Forget the media-hyped recalls and check the reliability stats here and elsewhere...their at/near the top of most surveys. Check out the Car&Driver Cute-Ute comparison articles. The V6 AWD version topped all other similar-optioned vehicles...even the newer-designed models. And the 4-cylinder version is still seen as a safe purchase holds its own against the lower-optioned versions.
2007 4dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
Good quality interior materials except for headliner. Not quite as good as my 2008 Accord
2006 4dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic FWD
Tight fit. No rattles or squeaks.
Materials and Workmanship of the Toyota RAV4: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2010 4dr SUV 179-horsepower 2.5L I4
4-speed automatic AWD
awful rattles and creaks when turning from drivers side, major reason to sell it after only 3 months, 8000 miles
2010 4dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
Hard, very cheap plastics all over the interior. Creaks, rattles, squeaks and groans are plentiful in the interior. Road noise can be invasive at times. Very disappointing in a near 40k SUV.
2010 4dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
Hard touch plastics for the price they are asking? No way!
2009 4dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
Interior has held up well, but there's way too many hard surfaces on dash & doors. But it's comparable to other value-priced Cute-Utes (under $30K) designed & marketed prior to 2009. Most auto manufacturers have focused on upgrading the interiors since the later 2000s, when they re-design their vehicles.
2006 4dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic AWD
Heating duct drains were not installed properly causing water to drain into passenger compartment. The evap cannister will fill with gas if you top up your tank beyond the first click at the pump, causing it to fail. Poor design. $1000 repair.
2006 4dr SUV 269-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic FWD
Interior materials are more spartan and more trucklike than competing models. Other than that, overall fit and finish is very good though.
