Price of the Toyota Corolla: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
20104dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
The payment on the car is less than 300 a month for a nicely equipped car.
20104dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
The Corolla provides a lot of "bang for the buck" in my mind. It has all the things I need in a car, all the things I wanted in a car, and even a few minor fun "bells and whistles" for good measure - all at a price I can afford easily.
20094dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Decided to go with Corolla because it was several thousand cheaper over civic for similar features.
20094dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
I felt this car was reasonable price for its class.
20084dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Low interest rate on lease payments. Reasonably priced car while well equipped.
20074dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
we got a pretty good price (before tax, tags and title fees) from a ford dealership. Bought in 2010, it was a used 2007 model.
20074dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Low payments and priced right, it seems that newer corollas can be had for what you would have paid for a new vehicle 2 or 3 years earlier.
20074dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
I only took the automatic transmission option and it was one of the cheapest. Interest rate was only at 1.7% for me.
20064dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Great pricing, easy financing
20064dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Paid $14,500
20054dr Sedan 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Purchased new, well-equipped for the market segment for 15k. Very competitive pricing relative to lesser known (by me) brands.
20054dr Sedan 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
It was what I felt I could afford at the time I had to replace my 1995 Saturn SL1.

low price
20034dr Sedan 130-horsepower 1.8L I4

20104dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
This may just be a little quirk with me/my location but I could not find it cheaper used anywhere in Texas. I guess on the other side though, it was one of the cheaper Pre-Owned Certified vehicles I was trying to find. Another one was a 2011 Honda Fit asking was 15k but had 40k miles for example. I bought this one for 13.7k (full bumper to bumper coverage for next 4 years) so you can't be too sure.
20094dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Its expensive compared to Sentra, Elantra and Lancer, while providing the same or less features. Also mainteinance is expensive but is because the brand, not the car.
20094dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
More expensive than a Focus (but more car, too, and better resale value for sure).
20084dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Not as much of a bargain for what you get and the payments were too high for a boring daily-driver.
20054dr Sedan 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
sort of upmarket cost for a dinky little eonobox with crappy handling. But I guess you pay for the fact that it will biodegrade before it will wear out.

20074dr Sedan turbocharged 224hp 2.5L H4

I found a great price on my WRX from a private seller. Was in stock form and seem to run fine.
20064dr Wagon turbocharged 230hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
Relatively inexpensive for what you get - only similar cars are German and $10K more.
20064dr Wagon turbocharged 230hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
Very reasonable price for AWD, 240hp and reliable vehicle
20064dr Wagon turbocharged 230hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
Very reasonable for what one gets - at least it was in the 2006 model. At $23K for an AWD little wagon with 230+ hp, great reliability and lots of fun it was nearly unbeatable.
20044dr Sedan 165-horsepower 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
Negotiated 18K out the door, great value!
20044dr Sedan turbocharged 300hp 2.5L H4
6-speed manual AWD
While the STi is not cheap by any measure, it will outperform many cars twice its price. It only has one serious rival in its price/performance class (Mitsubishi Evo). Otherwise, it will eat most other sport sedans for breakfast.
20034dr Wagon turbocharged 227hp 2.0L H4
5-speed manual AWD
The WRX came with metallic paint (extra cost on the BMW), cloth seats (not available on the BMW), and a cassette player AND 5-disc in-dash CD player (combo not available on the BMW), offered higher performance and cost $15k less.

Subaru Canada, I have a question for you: why you charge 2k more here than in States? Give me one reason, please...
20094dr Sedan turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
This car is considerably more expensive than a Civic due to the AWD and turbo powertrain.
20094dr Sedan turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
It was a little more expensive than the GTI I bought plus the loan would have been at a higher interest rate.
20084dr Hatch turbocharged 305hp 2.5L H4
6-speed manual AWD
Making it every month !!!
20084dr Sedan 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
I feel the car is about 20% too expensive for what you get considering the poor quality of materials and low interior build quality.
20084dr Hatch turbocharged 305hp 2.5L H4
6-speed manual AWD
New and rare model made the dealer unwilling to deal.
20084dr Hatch turbocharged 305hp 2.5L H4
6-speed manual AWD
The new and relatively rare nature of the car made the dealer unwilling to deal.
20044dr Wagon 165-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed automatic AWD
I had a hard time finding a good one in the used market and it was impossible to get a deal because of the scarcity.
20044dr Wagon 165-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed automatic AWD
Expensive compared to other comparable subcompacts, but you get AWD, many safety features, and high resale value.
20034dr Wagon 165-horsepower 2.5L H4

Even old models with high mileage cost alot.

2011 4dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
For an entry level car it seems put together well. No noises indicating loose parts, no odd rattles, every window seam was solidly affixed. A lot of little things that wear quickly or look poorly installed were not present in the Corolla.
2009 4dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
No problem so far. I use the car daily for work commute and then to carry two kids around. gave it a good clean up last week, look as good as new.
2007 4dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
No rattles, good fit, good materials
2007 4dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
The interior seemed to be made of high quality expensive looking materils that fit mostly well together, I did have to have dealer repair a couple panels that did not fit as well together as most of the other trim pieces did
2006 4dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
The interior has a quality sturdy feel, with no loose or hollow plastic moldings that i've seen on other cars.
2006 4dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Again, very high quality and very durable. I've put 70,000 km's on it over 4 years and it still looks good inside and out. Nothing a good vacuum and polish can't clean up.
2006 4dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Fit and finish are very good both interior and exterior.
2003 4dr Sedan 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Very nice inside, not luxury but def comfortable.
2003 4dr Sedan 130-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Even after 190K km, the Corolla still feels tight and well made.
Materials and Workmanship of the Toyota Corolla: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2010 4dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Interior is full of cheap rubbermaid plastics that are ultra hard and creaky.
2009 4dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Poorly designed new engine has mechanical noises when started and runs rough when first started.
2009 4dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Interior was not as well finished as the Sentra and materials seemed cheaper
2008 4dr Sedan 126-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Possible this is only my Corolla, but the exterior seems to be falling apart, roof trim peels, dash rattles, rear bumper cover is always loose. Speedo off by 5-10%, braking clunks. Dealership says this is normal. Toyota has let me down. Have owned 2.5

2009 4dr Sedan turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4

My previous WRX was very prone to rattles
2008 4dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
The materials quality found throughout the cabin is extremely cheap. Hard plastics(creaks, rattles) are abound in the entire cabin - from doors, dashboard to seat cloths. There is luxury, there is good quality, there is average and then there is Subar
2008 4dr Sedan 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed automatic AWD
This where the Impreza really failed to shine. Among the array of cheap, flimsy plastic parts, one stuck out: the fake chrome trim on the trunk that popped off while closing. Fortunately for us, it popped right back on...
2008 4dr Sedan 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
The paint on the exterior is very soft and scratches and chips very easily, the interior plastics and materials are all poorly wearing and look 5 years old at just over a year. The plastic-chrome also looks low-rent. A lot of the plastic trim has failed.
2007 4dr Wagon turbocharged 224hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
Compared to my previous car, a GTI, the interior is cheap - lots of plastic. The exterior paint is thin, and highly susceptible to scratches and chips.
