New models often start out with high repair rates, and then improve as the manufacturer identifies and addresses common problems. MethodologyOnly successfully completed repairs are currently included in the analysis. Routine maintenance, most wear items, recalls, and problems fixed with just a reflash or warning light reset are not included.

This thing is over-the-top-reliable. I take it off-road, slam the under-belly on to rocks, bull it over large stones like a Hummer, pull over 10,000 lbs for drives well over 2 hours (it stinks of sulfer on the hills but...) - only in shop for oil/brakes. |

Other than sticking calipers (common problem), the 4Runner was trouble-free for me. |

2nd 4runner. Had no issues with the first at 189,000 miles. Feel safe taking this car out in the sticks, and down the highway |

Excellent reliablility reputation. My girlfriend has a Camry (I think all of those parts must be made in China - just awful). The 4Runner parts are heavier duty and stronger parts. However, at 45,000 miles all four shocks needed to be replaced. |
| 2006 | 4dr SUV 260-horsepower 4.7L V8 5-speed automatic AWD w/low range |
Sooooo many older ones are still on the road and kept in really good condition. |

This car has been with us for close to 6 years 170,000kms and has had NO problems. Pulls horse trailer, drives into and out of BC snow storms, carries kids and a lot of junk and NOTHING breaks. |

I seemed to have a lemon, with many electrical problems over the 7 years. Door lock actuators broke 8 times (for 4 doors), an AC sensor forced a new compressor, I replaced the AC control panel, I replaced the AC clutch relay and had other such problems. |
