Saab 9-5 Gas Mileage (MPG)

Saab 9-5 Gas Mileage (MPG):

Unlike other fuel economy surveys, TrueDelta's Real-World Gas Mileage Survey includes questions about how and where a car was driven. So you can get an idea of the Saab 9-5's real-world MPG based on how and where you drive a car.

If you are not a TrueDelta member, you can see only five Saab 9-5 MPG gas mileage averages for each powertrain. Log in or join us to see them all.

2011 4dr Sedan turbocharged 220hp 2.0L I4

So far doing mixed highway and suburban driving, getting about 26-28 on the highway while around 19-22 driving around suburbs.
2007 4dr Sedan turbocharged 260hp 2.3L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Fuel economy is outstanding for such a fast car. At a steady 100 km/h speed, I can keep my economy numbers at 7.5 L/100km or lower
2007 4dr Sedan turbocharged 260hp 2.3L I4

It gets 29mpg highway if you keep it at 70mph. Just completed 700 mile weekend trip with extended 85-90mph speeds, averaging 26.5mpg. Avg 22/23 in the city. Can run regular with only slight performance degrade. What other 260hp car gets this mileage?

2003 4dr Sedan turbocharged 185hp 2.3L I4

Excellent for such a large and powerful car. I consistently get about 28 mpg in mixed driving, normally with a good share of very congested urban driving in the mix.

For a car with this much power, the mileage is great. Even with a roof rack and some heavy feet, it gets 22+ mpg in mixed driving. Very rare for a car with this kind of performance.

Hard acceleration and high speed passes still return 22-23 mpg. Easy driving, 29-30 mpg. The 250 hp 4 cylinder is very responsive with minimal turbo lag.

I had hoped for better economy from 2.3L, but it is really really really hard not to go like a bat out of hell with all of the available power!
