Best Pathfinder yet !! A member from Texas, United States Best Reason to Buy the Nissan Pathfinder: Ride smoothness Picked up my new 2013 Pathfinder on Monday night and took a trip the next day of around 450 miles. This is my fourth Pathfinder and is absolutely the smoothest riding car that I have ever owned. We had five grown-ups in the car plus some gear and the ride was excellent! Very comfortable. Best Reason Not to Buy the Nissan Pathfinder: Audio & nav systems Audio is great on this vehicle, but I still prefer the Garmin Nuvi interface functions on my portable GPS. A member from British Columbia, Canada Best Reason to Buy the Nissan Pathfinder: Powertrain performance The powertrain in this vehicle has been excellent during the 10 years that I have owned it (bought new). The 4 speed auto is outdated but still performs very well. I feed it only regular grade fuel unless towing or loaded very heavily. Best Reason Not to Buy the Nissan Pathfinder: Handling Recently at about 95,000 Km the car developed the dreaded Pathfinder death wobble whereby the rear trailing arm bushings softened prematurely allowing the solid axel to move fore and aft side to side on deeply rutted freeways. A member from New Jersey, United States Best Reason to Buy the Nissan Pathfinder: Powertrain performance V8 is a BLAST to drive and at times was frighteningly fast. Tranny was robust and I like the manu-matic mode that it offered. Best Reason Not to Buy the Nissan Pathfinder: Fuel economy The fun of a V8 in a 5k+ lb vehicle had its penalties. Admittedly heavy on the gas, I averaged 13mpg in town and was lucky if I obtained 18mpg on long trips cruising at a steady 75mph. Manual said Premium fuel was recommended but regular worked fine. The VQ35DE engine will go for well over 300,000km without any major issues, and the transmission will give you no problems. One thing to watch: on areas with salted roads or by oceans, rust can be an issue.
