Nicely put together. Smooth clean lines inside and out with no big gaps to lose things in. Leather/cloth inserts in nice places, gives it a quality, upscale feel. Inside panels on doors not concave so they feel more substantial, not cheap. |

Assembly quality was superb, but some materials are cheesy, like the silver-painted instrument surround and the faux carbon fiber on the dash. Red-and-black cloth upholstery looks good, but wears quickly, and there are a lot of minor squeaks and rattles. |

The paint on these things is crap. All 3 Elantras I test drove had very thin paint. One 2004 had the clearcoat peeling of all over. The other two had tons of little scratches, presumably from automatic car wash. |
