Quite happy with 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv A member from Florida, United States Best Reason to Buy the Mazda Mazda3: Fuel economy This car does very well.. I drive mostly highway during the week, but a lot of rush hour driving means lots of stop and go. Even with that and the around town driving I do on the weekends, I am still averaging 38.1 MPG! Best Reason Not to Buy the Mazda Mazda3: Rear seat room & comfort I bought this car to replace a 2004 Mazda 6i Hatchback that I truly loved (got rear-ended and totaled). I did not like the 2012 Mazda 6 at all (or the milage it got), so I went the 3 with Skyactiv. The rear seat and rear legroom is just a bit too small. If it were a tad larger, this would be a awesome car, but the great mileage I get offsets this to a certain degree. Best Reason Not to Buy the Mazda Mazda3: Dealership practices Significant challenges with misinformation and misdiagnosis when vehicle would go in for service. Their Sales dept. was great, but since my vehicle is no longer covered by warranty, I no longer have it serviced at the dealership. Fun to Go A member from New York, United States Best Reason to Buy the Mazda Mazda3: Exterior styling I like the exterior styling a lot. not a fan of the 18inch wheel design. the new wheels on the 2013 look much better. the hood 2009 has a clean look, especially with the windshield washers recessed below the hood. after owning three bmws and a minicooper, i am very satisfied with the exterior styling. Best Reason Not to Buy the Mazda Mazda3: Audio & nav systems audio is okay, if not subpar due to a combination of a weak system and loud car. lots of road noise gets through the car (and through my non speed mazda 3). With over 70% city/suburb driving, I've yet to average under 30mpg (odo/pump). Set the cruise control at 65-70 and > 40mpg is easy on a flat highway. Best Reason Not to Buy the Mazda Mazda3: Quietness This is not a luxury car, nor is trying to be. However, the road noise is a bit more than other cars in the class and due to design of the engine around efficiency, it can be loud at times. Music at a moderate volume is enough to drown out most noise. Still, there is plenty of room in the GTI to haul things with the rear seats down. The Mazda is just a little better in this regard.
