Hyundai Genesis Lemon Odds and Nada Odds through December 31, 2012
General NotesNote the sample sizes in the right column. For a precise Nada Odds, it'd be best to have 50+ cars. For Lemon Odds, 100+. In most cases the sample sizes are between 25 and 35, and differences of less than six points are probably not meaningful. This is especially a factor with the "Lemon Odds," where nearly all scores are low. That said, the Lemon Odds figures are probably much lower than many people suspected, so we've posted them. Similarly, the Nada Odds are probably higher than many people suspected. Even with the least reliable cars in this results set your odds of no repairs would be better than one in three. Surprised? MethodologyThe samples include cars for which we have at least nine months of data in the past year. The "Nada-odds" are adjusted based on the average number of months of data per car. These stats are very close to what they'd be if we included only cars with a full year of data.
Only successfully completed repairs are currently included in the analysis. Recalls and problems fixed with just a reflash or warning light reset are not included.

Our Austin area Hyundai dealership is not going convince anyone that they deal in luxury vehicles. While the dealership displays are comfortable and convenient, they are about a decade behind true luxury settings.

And the service areas? Egads. Imagine a cross between urban Sears auto service and Walmart. Their service reps are a mixed bag: some quite professional and helpful, other not so much. I strongly suggest they take their service reps and go visit a Lexus dealer or at least an Acura dealer for a field trip. While they're at it, they should just steal some blueprints for design ideas.

Hyundai vehicles are better than too many of the showrooms from which they are are sold. I liked the very straightforward sales process, and would willing |

I wanted to be one of the people to form the bandwagon, not jump on it later. In the early 1990s, Toyota created a serious luxury competitor, and is now one of the top 3 luxury mfrs. Hyundai is poised to out-Lexus, Lexus, and I want to be part of that. |

The Genesis has had excellent reports from ALL sources. Car of the year etc. |

I dislike that some people still consider Hyundai a "cheap" Korean import with poor quality and reliability. |

Hyundai does not have the pedigree of Mercedes and BMW. |

Hyundai still has a stigma of because a unreliable, cheap brand. |

Hyundai is not yet an established luxury/presige brand, though this played almost no part in my decision to buy. The car itself is very, very impressive, and the service I receive at my Hyundai dealer is quite good. |
