A member from Maryland, United States Best Reason to Buy the Hyundai Elantra: Reliability & durability I bought this car new in Nov, 2003 and still have it. Other than routine maintenance including 2 timing belt replacements (preventative) at 66K and 125K. Major problems: The radiator began leaking at 98K miles and was replaced. Also had to replace a power steering belt in 2009 at about 90K. One headlamp cover seal now needs to be replaced and the seal for the driver side window is loosening and needs replacing. Overall, a very good, reliable car. Just turned 135K. Highly recommended as a used car. I would buy another Elantra. Car comes fully loaded at a reasonable price Best Reason Not to Buy the Hyundai Elantra: Handling Suspension is tuned for comfort. The car will plunge when cornering. The power steering leaves no feedback to the driver.
