Honda Odyssey Reliability through December 31, 2012
An asterisk (*) marks results based on small sample sizes.
General NotesModels and statistics marked with an asterisk (*) have very low sample sizes. These results, visible only to logged-in members, provide only a rough estimate of car reliability.Any result under 20 repair trips per 100 cars is likely a result of the small sample size, and should be expected to increase to 20 or so in future updates.
New models often start out with high repair rates, and then improve as the manufacturer identifies and addresses common problems. MethodologyOnly successfully completed repairs are currently included in the analysis. Routine maintenance, most wear items, recalls, and problems fixed with just a reflash or warning light reset are not included.

Having owned the vehicle for 6 years I find that it has had very few trips for service beyond regular maintenance. Having owned it now for 6.5 years and at 177,000km I have a feeling it is not going to age as well as I had hoped. More issues popping up |

Odyssey has reported reliability issues. |
| 2006 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 244-horsepower 3.5L V6 w/DoD 5-speed automatic FWD |
Expensive and frequent repairs. Too many uncommon defects occur at warranty expiry. Honda Plus extended warranty covers everything that never wears out! |
| 2005 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 255-horsepower 3.5L V6 w/DoD 5-speed automatic FWD |
Many little problems. Always something. Reminds me of the Yugo. |
| 2004 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 240-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Problematic transmission - see powertrain performance |
| 2003 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 240-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Lots of reports of transmission problems on earlier models, but I think by 2003, they had it sorted. Power doors and rear windows are very expensive to repair when (not if!) they break. |
| 2003 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 240-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Automatic transmission problems, trim falling off, radio shuts off each time battery runs down and requires a trip to dealer to reset, fuel filler door stops working which makes entire electric powered door not open on one side of vehicle. |
| 2002 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 240-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Transmission reliability concerns. |
| 2002 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 240-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
History of transmission failure, window motor failures, door motor failures, rattles, squeeks, etc. |
| 2002 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 240-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Transmission failed quite early even with changing transmission fluid every 10,000 miles. Not durable. Rattles, Squeaks, Hardware breaks, doors stick. Supposed to use only Honda brand transmission fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze. Next? Honda Air. |
