Honda Accord Reliability through March 31, 2013
An asterisk (*) marks results based on small sample sizes.
General NotesModels and statistics marked with an asterisk (*) have very low sample sizes. These results, visible only to logged-in members, provide only a rough estimate of car reliability.Any result under 20 repair trips per 100 cars is likely a result of the small sample size, and should be expected to increase to 20 or so in future updates.
New models often start out with high repair rates, and then improve as the manufacturer identifies and addresses common problems. MethodologyOnly successfully completed repairs are currently included in the analysis. Routine maintenance, most wear items, recalls, and problems fixed with just a reflash or warning light reset are not included.

Our past Hondas have been the most reliable cars we've owned. I would expect the Accord Coupe to be much more reliable long-term than the Volkswagen. |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 271-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Wife had an Accord from 2000 and very little ever went wrong with it until it dropped the transmission July 2009. No brainer to get another one to serve as the every-day family car. |
| 2010 | 2dr Coupe 271-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Reputation....Still new I have no personal experience |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 271-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
I drove each of my Accords for more than 14 years with no major repairs. |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 177-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
After owning and repairing many European cars, it is comforting to know that the Accord is much more likely than not to have extraordinary reliability and durability. It is a calming feeling. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 271-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Consumer Reports and many owner reviews confirm the Accord is a reliable car, maintaining its pluses even after high mileage. |

It is my 6th Honda. % previous ones gave no reason to suspect anything down the road. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 271-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Our two previous Hondas gave us exemplary trouble-free driving. In eleven months and 19,000 miles so has this one. |

Amazing reliability track record |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 190-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Historical experience. The parts that matter most to drivability will last - in my experience an Accords drivetrain will remain functional while the body rusts away. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Its reputation is that it requires little beyond routine maintenance to last many years. The expectation is that 100,000 miles is nothing special for this car. |

Past History and other ownership. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
I have owned two other Honda products and drove them for 200,000+ miles. Family members have Accords approaching 250,000. |

| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 190-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
This is a solid car; it should hold up well by all accounts. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Have 6,000 miles on my new Accord and not one problem. Had a 2006 Accord that had 28,000 miles and again, not one problem. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 177-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
I have had no mechanical failures for the last 5300 miles. |

9ooo miles and no problems so far. |
| 2008 | 2dr Coupe 190-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
I drive quite a bit: since purchasing this vehicle new in February, I have put well over 19,000 miles on the odometer. Up to this point, I have had no problems, mechanical or otherwise. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
In all our years of leasing, the 2008 is the first car I had to return to the dealership for a problem. The a/c did not work from the factory. Dam good reliability!!! |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Accord is very reliable & durable. I know people who have more than 150k miles on their accord. So, I had to think very little about its reliability & durability. |
| 2008 | 2dr Coupe 268-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
You still see Accords that are 10-20 years old running perfectly. I expect that to still be true. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Accord is very reliable & durable (camry too). I know people who have more than 150k miles on their accord (same can be true for camry also). So, I had to think very little about its reliability & durability. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 190-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Last Accord last for 180,000 without any major or costly maintenance. Would have last longer if I was not rearended causing vehicle to be total. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 190-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
No trips to the shop for fixing things of small importance |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
See previous response, but both personal experience and general reputation of this vehicle are excellent. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
That they rarely break |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
It has been a trouble free car so far. It feels well built and has solid construction |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
At 16 months now. Still have not taken in yet for any problem. Prior Cadillac Deville was so bad with 33 problems we had to get rid of it. Lost $34,000 in 4.5 years also. Just did not want another "American" engineered car. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 6-speed manual FWD |
So far no issue - Car has worked as new |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Has consistently had high reliability ratings. Friends with Accords have had excellent experiences and good reliability for well over 100,000 miles. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
No driveability problems for the year I had it. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Honda makes a fine reliable vehicle |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Along with Toyota, this company has a long and favorable history. 32000 miles without a problem |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
It had a reliability and repair record far above most of the other cars I looked at. This was good for my second choice too (Camry), but the Accord package ended up being better. |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
60,000 miles and no issues! Even the tires are still original!! |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
My Accord covered 68,000 miles without missing a beat. It did go through 2 batteries but never left me stranded. This was a great car with respect to reliability. |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
The main thing you only have to do is the maintenance. It will go a 1,000,000 miles. |
| 2006 | 2dr Coupe 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Peace of mind as my wife drives this car more than I do. I also feel that the reliability factor adds to the resale of the car. |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 253-horsepower 3.0L V6 Hybrid 5-speed automatic FWD |
Honda has an excellent reputation of reliability and so far so good... |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
No problems in 40k+ miles, just as solid as ever |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Extremely reliable, I havent had a problem with my accord after almost 4 years of ownership. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
One unscheduled visit for a 4 year old car? And that was for a bad battery, replace at no charge. Amazing. My last car, a 1996 VW GTI VR6 was in for unscheduled service, on average, 3-4 times a year, including once within 5 days of purchase. Rock Solid |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Past model had been very reliable. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
It is always roadworthy. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Never a problem, no returns to dealer, easy to maintain. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
No problems to date. Feels solid and well engineered. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Havent had one problem since bought new in 2005. Baby the car and change the oil at 3500 mile intervals myself since I have a thing about sediments and such left in the engine over time. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
81,000+ miles. Not one issue, at all. Best car i have ever owned for reliability. |
| 2005 | 2dr Coupe 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 6-speed manual FWD |
After 90k miles, the only real problems have been the passenger side power window regulators (which were replaced twice under the factory warrantee).............and a CEL for engine coolant computer error. (coolant not affected) |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
This is my fourth Honda. Is there any better car out there? |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
YOu can beat it up, and it takes the beating and keeps on going. |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
No major problems at 55K, and expected reliability is good based on model history. Many stories of Accords lasting well over 150K. |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
What can I say? The Honda Accord is a trouble free auto, that if serviced regularly as mine is, will give you years of trouble free service. The Accord is just put together right. All this from a car made in Marysville, Ohio. And American car built here. |
| 2004 | 2dr Coupe 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Owned since new. Have only done normal maintenance. No repairs at all other than back brakes at 45K and new tires at 41K. Love it. |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Its a low maintenance car that is generally reliable |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Reliability top notch, never went for unexpected repair just maintainance. |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Experience and Consumer Report long term data |
| 2003 | 2dr Coupe 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Car is reliable with standard maintenance. Car should last over 300K miles with regular maintenance. |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
I elaborate in my personal experience but I bought this certified pre-owned from Lia Honda Williamsville with 48K miles in Apr 2007, now May 2009 with 103k miles. have only replaced timing belt, changed oil, regular flui changes. Still feels quite new |
| 2003 | 2dr Coupe 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 6-speed manual FWD |
I have read many stories of Hondas holding up well over time. Every domestic car I have owned in the past broke down repeatedly as it neared 5 years old. While the problems were rarely major, the numerous small issues added up in price and stress |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
Almost 100,000 and very few problems. Transmission recall and windshield wiper motor recall. No out of pocket repairs other than scheduled upkeep. |
| 2002 | 4dr Sedan 150-horsepower 2.3L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
needs only routine maintenance and not much else until high mileage (200000 or more) |
| 2002 | 4dr Sedan 135-horsepower 2.3L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
VERY VERY GOOD |
| 2001 | 4dr Sedan 200-horsepower 3.0L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
Only one repair which was covered in a recall (tranny) |
| 2000 | 4dr Sedan 200-horsepower 3.0L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
it never had an issue other than wear items like brakes and oil |
| 2000 | 4dr Sedan 150-horsepower 2.3L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
After 10 years, I have had only a few repairs. I get in, start it up, and it runs. |
| Reliability and Durability of the Honda Accord: Cons | ||

window and trunk rattles |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Another issue I had was around 60,000 miles, I had to replace the power steering pump. I heard this whine sound from under my hood and next thing I know, I am coughing up another $500 to replace the pump. I had all the fluids changed when recommended and this still happened.<br /> Between the motor mount and power steering pump, I have spent $1300 more on this accord than I did on my 99 Camry. |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
My issue with the accord is at 38,000 miles I was told I had a broken motor mount. I am not sure why or how a broken motor mount would occur in under 3 years of ownership. I found that annoying because the car was maintained and not beaten on and this happens. Nothing better than coughing up $700.00 just before your child is born. |
| 2006 | 2dr Coupe 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
This car has been at the dealer almost once every couple of months, it feels like the car is just falling apart in my hands. Just the other day the power window controls fell out of the door. The transmission sometimes refuses to go into gear from Park |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
cold start valve or cylinder slap after 53K miles |
| 2002 | 2dr Coupe 200-horsepower 3.0L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
I bought the car so I could drive it, change the oil, and keep driving it. But from faulty fog lights, worn radio controls, two transmissions, two alternators, and numerous rattles, I have not reached my goal of maintenance-free driving and quality. |
