General NotesModels and statistics marked with an asterisk (*) have very low sample sizes. These results, visible only to logged-in members, provide only a rough estimate of car reliability.Any result under 20 repair trips per 100 cars is likely a result of the small sample size, and should be expected to increase to 20 or so in future updates.
New models often start out with high repair rates, and then improve as the manufacturer identifies and addresses common problems. MethodologyOnly successfully completed repairs are currently included in the analysis. Routine maintenance, most wear items, recalls, and problems fixed with just a reflash or warning light reset are not included.

| Oct | 2009 | 172000 | First odometer entry | |
| Nov | 2009 | 174000 | 640 | CEL P0420. Per Honda SM 100% CAT, wanted $1,500. Per My debug & indp shop likely 1 of the 02 (A/F) sensors and NOT the cat. Shop thought front 02 sensor, I thought rear 02. I buy OEM parts. Did front sensor first. Not it. 2 weeks later, rear 02 sensor replaced. THIS WAS IT! Shop likes to replace cat bc this sensor rusts to it, but only need new sensor. P0420 not always the CAT. Check fuel inj. temp sender, coolant temp, front A/F or 02 sensor and rear 02 (mose likely). |
| Feb | 2010 | 180000 | 0 | Lower drivers side seat squeaks, rattles, and moves. Isolated to lower seat hardware, broke or worn out. I ordered OEM parts (~$100), repair when I have the time. Problem the same as a TSB 02-059, but I have different type seat. |
| Jul | 2010 | 186000 | 175 | Rear, right, door lock actuator, was intermittent, eventually, was failing reliably. Symptom: doors appear to lock (hear clunk from locks), but OEM alarm LED/Lights dont flash = one or more doors, not locking. Lock door manually, then OK. OPS. Occupant position sensor, passengers seat, replaced, extended warranty repair. Dealer thinks problem caused by my HAM Radio equipment, despite, side air bag warning light lights, only if it's RAINING. Unknown if repair successful, yet. Vibration at 65 MPH, braking only. Slight surge at other speeds. Problem isolated to 6-month-old Centric Premium (black) front rotors, warped. Turned rotors, problem gone! Rotors had low spot, looked like a ying/yang sign. |
| Oct | 2010 | 190000 | 20 | Automatic trany's, are failure prone. Found by OA, high Aluminum @ 54ppm (OK is 5-10). Since then, I've been doing extreme ATF changes, using AMSOil Univ-ATF. I'm down to 8ppm, after several Drain/ Refills of the ATF, and doing @ 7.5k mi. |
| Jan | 2011 | 192700 | 0 | Headlight assembly replaced because it was leaking water/ vapor into it. It would fog. Update: two years later have to modify aftermarket unit because poorly designed (see separate entry). |
| Apr | 2011 | 196000 | 0 | This appears to be somewhat common: P0700, P1739. No CEL/MIL. I check for codes at fuel up (ScanGage2). I see this code, every 1-2 years. I think it a computer bug. ECU thinks it should see a response in x-seconds, and not happen in time... Centric rotors warped again,10K Miles since last time(happens every 10K).Last time I paid $100,to turn the rotors on the car.Replacing them, costs less. This problem is back.I will do a brake job my self.Use a different brand pads and rotor. |
| May | 2011 | 196500 | 280 | Replaced Rotors with, Power Slot Power Alloy Cryo cryogenically treated slotted rotors, and Hawk HPS pads.Front only.Greased the sliders and such. No more vibration, works good. New slotted rotors only make slight noise during hard braking. |
| Aug | 2011 | 201000 | 370 | Rear hydrologic vacuum ctrl motor mount.Clunk noise after engine starts, esp in the morning.Vibration, odd feeling during hard acceleration, like the engine is moving around. After replacement, feels much smother. 170 for part, 200 to replace. Door, windows, locks, and alarm malfunctioning. Fix attempts: Reset computer, not it. Disconnected negative battery terminal, waited 3 minutes, then reconnected. Now works fine. May have been related to a strong magnet set on passengers seat? |
| Sep | 2011 | 201000 | 0 | Unknown source rattle, mid-front exhaust area, intermittent: Most likely the CAT. Unable to conclusively isolate noise. Could be internal to exhaust manifold down pipe (between engine and CAT). Sounds like two pipe hitting each other. Timing Belt service, cost $800: Both belts, and tensioner pulleys, all seals and gasket, water pump, and spark plugs and tubes (everything). Including check/ setting valve adjust, and oil/ filter change. |
| Sep | 2012 | 212000 | 0 | P0420 is back (bad CAT). Like the last time MIL/CEL showed up just after SMOG test. I passed with flying colors! Last time the rear 02 sensor became slow, but did not throw a MIL. I have not checked for this yet. I have reset the CEL 3x. Passengers electric Door lock. I had this problem before but was the rear door. I need to get new lock solenoid... |
| Jan | 2013 | 213000 | 0 | P0420 Went a way. And, No pending codes??? |
| Apr | 2013 | 220000 | 0 | P0420 Returned on 4-1-13 Not a joke. Was on till last week and it went away on 4-13-13. I reset the CEL twice during this time period. The CAT cost ~$1100 from the dealer. |

| Feb | 2011 | 182000 | 2500 | The transmission completely failed and the D4 light began blinking. Due to engine also burning oil, decided not to repair. The car had been burning oil, so I had them do a compression test. Cylinder 1 barely passed, 2 was better, 3 and 4 were fine. Since it essentially meant an engine rebuild, I decided not to repair. |

| Feb | 2013 | 124000 | 120 | The power steering pump began to make a groaning sound when steering wheel was moved after warm-up. I googled the problem and found likely cause was air in lines from bad o-ring in power steering line. Replaced in 15 minutes- problem fixed Car had brake vibration. I replaced front rotors myself with inexpensive Duralast rotors and new front pads. Vibration is gone- replacing rotors is cheaper than having them turned. |

| Sep | 2008 | 66000 | 170 | As is common on this vintage of Honda Accord, the transmission was on its way to complete failure. Dealer replaced @ Honda's cost as part of a special extended warranty granted to all 2001 Accord owners for 93 months or 109K miles (car is 92 months old). SRS warning light indicated that the driver's seat belt buckle had a problem. Seatbelts are lifetime warranted on Honda's, so dealer replaced @ Honda's cost. Main relay was on the way to failing (causing car to intermittently not start). Common problem on many Hondas. Total repair for part ($70) and labor ($100) including tax. This is the only repair we ever had to "pay for" on the car in 92 mo/66K miles. |
