A member from Illinois, United States Best Reason to Buy the Ford Mustang: Powertrain performance Terrific engine. Docile at low rpm, but comes up on the cam nicely around 4k. Great noise too. Lots of bad reports on 6spd manual trans, but I seem to have a good one. Refinement of drivetrain surprisingly good overall. Best Reason Not to Buy the Ford Mustang: Interior styling The styling inside overall is just fine. But I HATE the gauges. Too retro and not readable enough. Maybe would be better if it had an auxiliary digital speedo like the Camaro. Also, the cheap rubbery steering wheel is not very nice to handle. That was what I set out to buy. Best Reason Not to Buy the Ford Mustang: Interior styling The interior is very dark, very drab, very uninviting. It's a good thing the top can go down to let in a bit of light. Is it some kind of macho thing or something? Or gangsta? Sure beats me, especially when a competitor, the Chrysler Sebring convertible, has been doing so much better a job for years. Best Reason Not to Buy the Ford Mustang: Materials & workmanship Rattle rattle rattle rattle rattle...noises come from everywhere. I'm writing them all down and will make one trip to the dealer. So far, the seatbelt anchor appears to be rattling, the driver side window, the seat when the lumbar (squeak, squeak) is at its fullest, and also when it's at its lowest setting (squeak, rattle, squeak). It sounds like a 1980s VW. I replaced an 88 Mustang GT with this car - the difference is night and day. A member from Illinois, United States Best Reason to Buy the Ford Mustang: Powertrain performance This car offers 300 horsepower at a price that is affordable compared to other cars at this power level. The car makes wonderful power at low RPMs, and is a great car for driving spirited on the street. Best Reason Not to Buy the Ford Mustang: Rear seat room & comfort There is very little rear leg room, but this car isn't meant to be a people carrier. It is nice that there are rear seats, but anyone that is not a small child will have a hard time sitting in the back.
