Mediocre visibility; Too much truck! A member from New Mexico, United States Best Reason to Buy the Ford F-150: Powertrain performance 3.7L is a terrific engine. Don't feel like you have to pony up for the Ecoboost. The slight hesitation out of the hole goes away after break in, about 4K of city driving. I'm the type to put the cheapest possible gas into a car, but not this one. It loves zero ethanol high test and I try to provide it. Get 18.25 mpg hand measured, in city driving. (XL standard cab 4X2. Occasional hard shift with six speed auto. A member from Ohio, United States Best Reason to Buy the Ford F-150: Front seat support & comfort This is a key part of my choice for any vehicle. Driver's seat has adjustable front-back, up-down, seat tilt, elevation & lumbar support. I also have a 1983 F250 HD pickup with an old-fashioned bench seat. This is actually more comfortable than the much fancier seat in my 2001 F150. However, both are very comfortable. The longest drive I ever took in my F150 was about 20 hours out of 24, where I covered 750 miles. I took frequent rest breaks, felt just fine at the end of this very long driving session. If you aren't use to turbo lag, you might find it a bit annoying at first, but once you get use to it you'll love the torque that gets put down as the engine engages. Getting 17 mpg in 50/50 mixed city/hwy driving. Best Reason Not to Buy the Ford F-150: Audio & nav systems The Ford Sync system (non-LCD dispaly version) is OK, but not amazing. I like the XM+Radio implementation in the 2011 Toyota Highlander better. I hate that I am forced to use the Sync menu system to select music on my iPhone when my iPhone has a much better interface for selecting music. We were looking at the Suburban or Yukon XL. Since it was April 2011 and this was a leftover 2010, there was $12k in discounts. The woodgrain trim, leather captains chairs, and the console shifter really set this truck apart from the lower trim lines. Love the tan leather/dash with silver, black, and woodgrain accents. XLTs are too plain IMO. Best Reason Not to Buy the Ford F-150: Price or payments Used Ford F150s are astronomical in price in this area. They must be heavily sought after or something, but most dealers seem to be asking top dollar and then some for them. This truck was Ford Certified, so that also played in the pricing as well. Best Reason Not to Buy the Ford F-150: Quietness Very quiet for the first few months but now I know why I dont usually buy American cars. Too many squeaks and rattles have developed. No response from Ford Corporate. Will get a Toyota next time. Otherwise was very quiet for 3 months! Best Reason Not to Buy the Ford F-150: Fuel economy The supercharged 5.4L V-8 REQUIRES 91 octane premium gas, which it drinks at a rate of 1 gallon every 14.9 miles (14.0 or less for the first 40,000 or so miles). But the 3V 5.4 just does not have the performance to complete with other trucks.
