Owner A member from Alberta, Canada Best Reason to Buy the Dodge Grand Caravan: Past personal experience This cars has had no major problems to date, other than the spare tire not dropping down. As a result I carry it behind the rear seat. Gas mileage is pretty good, and it is driven as fast as speed limits allow. There are 140000, kilometres on this 2005 grand Caravan, or about 84000 mies. I have put over 100,000 km on it personally. Is an ok winter car. It is starting to rust in the wheel well area..very small . Carpet is poor quality . Fit and trim is just ok. Overall good value. Best Bang for the Minivan Buck! A member from Pennsylvania, United States Best Reason to Buy the Dodge Grand Caravan: Powertrain performance Despite having a limited amount of horsepower (compared to other modern vans), I rarely feel the need for more power. This thing shifts accurately and smoothly equipped with the 4-speed automatic. Best Reason Not to Buy the Dodge Grand Caravan: Fuel economy I tend to drive this thing hard, and on highway trips where I average 80 to 85 mph, the fuel economy is only around 17 or 18. Should be at least in the low 20s. Around town and with my wife driving it, fuel economy is around 20 to 21. Dodge mini-van A member from Ontario, Canada Best Reason to Buy the Dodge Grand Caravan: Powertrain performance My van is equipped with the 3.8 litre, 6 speed automatic transmission. Have had no problems with it. Far superior to the 4 speed automatic transmissions I have had in my 3 previous Chrysler vans. I currently have 141,000 kms logged. Best Reason Not to Buy the Dodge Grand Caravan: Safety & braking The only issue I have is with the braking system. It appears to be poorly designed and brake replacement is more frequent than in the past. A member from Ontario, Canada Best Reason to Buy the Dodge Grand Caravan: Cargo capacity & towing I traded my Jeep Grand Cherokee for a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan R/T as my Jeep no longer met my expectations. While I would rate it an overall 10 for service and looks, I just needed 7-passenger capacity and more storage space. I looked at other SUVs and was prepared to give up some of the luxury but with the new van, this was not an issue as it came fully equipped to the extent I had everything that I needed. Boy, the new van just blew me away. The seat storage in the floor almost tripled the space to carry whatever I needed to carry. The storage space was longer, wider and higher which is so much more than anyone expect. This feature alone makes it a reason to buy. Best Reason Not to Buy the Dodge Grand Caravan: Audio & nav systems The standard radio has way too much bass. Adjusting it does not help much. Also, do not have much experience owning a North American built mini-van. I passed out while driving and spent the night in the hospital. The rest of my family was sick for weeks.
