| Price of the Ford Escape: Pros | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2011 | 4dr SUV 171-horsepower 2.5L I4 6-speed automatic AWD | Lowest |
| 2009 | 4dr SUV 240-horsepower 3.0L V6 6-speed automatic AWD | My price paid was much smaller than Toyota and Honda similar models I researched. |
| 2008 | 4dr SUV 153-horsepower 2.3L I4 4-speed automatic AWD | The price was within budget |
| 2008 | 4dr SUV 200-horsepower 3.0L V6 4-speed automatic AWD | Compared to Honda, Toyota and GM, much more "bang for the buck"! |
| 2007 | 4dr SUV 200-horsepower 3.0L V6 4-speed automatic FWD | lower than the mazda |
| 2007 | 4dr SUV 200-horsepower 3.0L V6 4-speed automatic FWD | Reasonable price for 1 year old lease return |
| 2007 | 4dr SUV 133-horsepower 2.3L I4 Hybrid CVT AWD | Not much. Pricey for what you get. |
| 2006 | 4dr SUV 133-horsepower 2.3L I4 Hybrid CVT AWD | Part of the deal was getting top dollar on my trade in. |
| 2006 | 4dr SUV 153-horsepower 2.3L I4 5-speed manual FWD | At my purchase price of $15800 I think my Escape is an unmatched value. |
| 2002 | 4dr SUV 127-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual AWD | Bought vehicle with low interest. And price of 19,600 was very reasonable. Especially by SUV standards |
| Price of the Ford Escape: Cons | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2008 | 4dr SUV 133-horsepower 2.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Hybrid was quite a premium over the V6. |
| 2007 | 4dr SUV 133-horsepower 2.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | It is not economical when comparing standard engine vs. hybrid engine. You have to do it because you want a hybrid for the environment. However, it is 10K cheeper than Toyota Highlander Hybrid, but it is a lighter car too. Tow capacity is 1000 vs 3000. |
| 2006 | 4dr SUV 133-horsepower 2.3L I4 Hybrid CVT AWD | As a hybrid, expect to pay a premium price. |

| 2012 | 4dr SUV 360-horsepower 5.7L V8 5-speed shiftable automatic AWD w/low range |
When I compared to other vehicles (Toyota and Honda), I decided the Dodge had superior materials throughout the cabin and fit and finish was superior. Love the exterior styling, a more bold statement and not cutsy cross over. |

| 2008 | 4dr SUV 133-horsepower 2.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
Have had the car for a year and a half. No faults found or encountered. Everything works every time, no rattles or loose trim. |
| 2006 | 4dr SUV 153-horsepower 2.3L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
I have been able to clean up after the kids, and they have not hurt the interior. Up front, everything feels good and has held together. |
| Materials and Workmanship of the Ford Escape: Cons | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2012 | 4dr SUV 171-horsepower 2.5L I4 6-speed automatic FWD |
INTERIOR: The overabundance of hard plastics inside is both a blessing and a curse. The dashboard has a simple dimpled texture that reduces glare, and while it's none-too luxurious it also won't crack or deform from years in the sun. Likewise, the hard plastic door panels impart a sense of cheapness, but they're also easy to clean and the top edge won't wear out or deform from having my elbow on them. The front seat "leather" is thin and heavily plasticized; the rear seats don't even get that, being covered instead in vinyl like many Ford trucks and SUVs. Given the new vehicle sticker price of $28,000, the materials should have been much nicer - and are on the 2013 model. |
| 2012 | 4dr SUV 171-horsepower 2.5L I4 6-speed automatic FWD |
EXTERIOR: Numerous minor fit & finish flaws, including a sizable gap between the left headlight and grille assemblies, and other sloppy panel fits. The most series flaw was a quarter-size paint blemish that started to "bubble" under the clearcoat on the left-side C pillar at 7,000 miles that required the entire panel to be reshot. (Incidentally, the body shop's paintwork is noticeably superior to the factory finish, with much smoother application and no orange peel.) |
| 2007 | 4dr SUV 133-horsepower 2.3L I4 Hybrid CVT AWD |
windshield washer spray from hood ..not to strong...tiddles on the bottom of the window...passenger side stopped working...stream blows all over on the highway |
| 2006 | 4dr SUV 200-horsepower 3.0L V6 4-speed automatic AWD |
Lots and lots of plastic. Some panel fit is not clean |
| 2005 | 4dr SUV 153-horsepower 2.3L I4 5-speed manual AWD |
The seat cover materials are the worst in a car I've ever owned. Plain water stains them terribly. The dealer admitted it was a problem with the XLS model's cheap materials, but couldn't/wouldn't do anything about it. |
