I had currently owned a Dodge Ram 1500 I bought new in 2000 and it became a major repair magnet. Two new engines, rebuilt transmission etc. The Silverados my friends have owned for years have been very reliable. |
| 2008 | 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 315-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic RWD |
Prior experience with GM trucks tells me that this one will last for years. No problems to speak of to this point. |
| 2006 | 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 295-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic RWD |
I decided on the Silverado because of its reliable 5.3L engine, which there are Chevrolets with these engines with over 200k still on the road; I also went with the Silverado because of my past experience with Chevrolets |
| 2006 | 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed 295-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic 4WD w/low range |
My 2006 is a proven performer. Much like any GM truck, the Silverado has a great reputation for reliability and durability, unmatched by any other manufacturer. |
| 2006 | 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed 295-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic RWD |
Have not had any major failures with this truck |
| 2004 | 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 295-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic RWD |
No problems at all. |
| 2002 | 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 285-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic 4WD w/low range |
At 125,000 miles, the Silverado has never given me any troubles with getting from point "A" to point "B". |

| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2004 | 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed 295-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range |
This vehicle had less than 30000 miles and it had many issues with the drivetrain. I cannot begin to explain the frustration I had with this truck. |
| 2003 | 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 285-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic 4WD w/low range |
Front axel seal, MAF sensor, transmission shifting poorly at 105,000 already. I think it now has a fuel pump issue also, along with some EVAP emissions code. Fuel pumps go out on these frequently after 100,000 miles. |
| 2003 | 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 300-horsepower 6.0L V8 4-speed automatic RWD |
more repairs on it than the Honda Pilot |
