What Our Members Are Saying about the Price of the the Chevrolet Malibu
| Price of the Chevrolet Malibu: Pros | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2012 | 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.4L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD | Got a really good lease deal. Didn't want to purchase a car at the time. |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 252-horsepower 3.6L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD | I bought my malibu used with 9000 miles. I got a very good price so I am happy with my decision. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 252-horsepower 3.6L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD | Paid $23,049 for 2LT with sunroof |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.4L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD | Value packed - easily beats the competition on price, and GM incentives plus warranty make it a no brainer. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.4L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | We found this car used with 15,000 miles for about $5,000 less than any other used Malibu available. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.4L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | The Malibu is a very quiet and refined car. It has decent handling and offers a lot of features for its price! The dealer incentives, combined with many positive reviews make it in my opinion a car that provides good value for the money. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 145-horsepower 2.2L I4 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD | I purchased new base model and have paid 2500 less than sticker price (60 month). |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 217-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD | I bought it used, depreciation is very high so it was very inexpensive considering the features and performance offered. It cost only 50% of list when only 23 months old. Since I intend to keep it for at least three year depreciation is not a concern. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 200-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD | Great vehicle to have! |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 200-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD | The price was over 10K less than Camry or Accord and actually had better safety and features. |

| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | It gave me the payment i needed while still providing most of the things i need in a small sedan. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Bought used 19k miles, good condition, $9,500 |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | $16,700 is quite a bit of money for a two-liter four sedan, but the Focus has build quality and content that justify it pretty well. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | The Focus is one of the cheapest new cars. There are others that are cheaper, but they basically come stripped of options like AC and radios. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Cheaper, with better standard features, than any competitors (Yaris, Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent). |
| 2008 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | It was an affordable car even when loaded with lots of options! |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | For what it is, it is not overpriced. The payments do not stress out my budget. |
| 2008 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Price was so low it was almost a concern. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Got it really cheap at a year end clearance sale. |
| 2006 | 2dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | I git a brand new, Top trim level, loaded car with Power everything, 6 disc CD/Mp3, ABS, Traction control, handling package for under $13,000. |
| 2006 | 2dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | The Focus is a lot of car for the money compared to smaller cars that sell for similar prices. Incentives allow a sale price far below sticker. |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Bought it new in March 25 2006.With dealer incentive paid $13,480.5/100,000 drive train warranty and 5/75 extended warranty |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | The Focus is one of the cheapest cars in its class. |
| 2005 | 4dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Cheap, reliable, easy in town. |
| 2005 | 2dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | The car is very affordable. I bought my focus new at a very good price, and my payments are pretty low. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | It was 2000 dollars less than the yaris, which had three times the miles... |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | $16,000 bought me a car with a ton of features (for the price), a $100,000 mile warranty, and decent gas milage. |
| 2004 | 2dr Hatch 145-horsepower 2.3L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Not only is the sticker price on a used or new Focus low, the parts are low too. Dramatically lower than Euro or Japanese cars. For example, a Focus 30K service is around $200-$250. A Subaru 30K service is $400-$500. |
| 2004 | 2dr Hatch 130-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | It was an inexpensive car to purchase. |
| 2003 | 4dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD | I paid $13,400 for a car that listed for $18,995. Used Protege5s were selling for more at the time. No other car with leather, sunroof, ABS, and such could be bought for a similar price. |
| 2003 | 4dr Wagon 145-horsepower 2.3L I4 5-speed manual FWD | This was the most inexpensive wagon available at the time. Lots of value for the money. |
| 2002 | 2dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD | Good value for money. Inexpensive and usually reliable. |
| 2002 | 2dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD | Under $300.00 a month |

| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | What can I say, it's a cheap car. At the time I purchased in 2009, the car was almost three years old and still had a sale price of $13000. It's currently only worth less than half of what was paid four years later. I purchased this car because of need and very limited time to make a choice. I knew I didn't want another Nissan because of their weak engines. My sister had just bought the 08 Focus SE model a few months before and was happy with hers, so I thought this might be an okay choice. Read on. |
| 2003 | 4dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD | The Focus SVT would have cost me about $5,000 more than the Mazda Protege5. |

| 2013 | 4dr Sedan 182-horsepower 2.4L I4 Hybrid 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Best of any car I have recently purchased; appears to have been carefully assembled with attention to detail which I thought had been forgotten with distant-past GM purchases; for my needs this vehicle appears to be an exceptional value. |
| 2011 | 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.4L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Solid, well put together car...no quality control issues other than drivers seat |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 252-horsepower 3.6L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
The fit and finish of the malibu looks more upscale than other sedans at the same price point. |

| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.4L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The soft touch fabrics, as well as the chrome trim really help with the appearance of high quality. In addition , the lack of squeaks or rattles seems to show that the engineers took care in designing it. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 252-horsepower 3.6L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Tight seams inside and out. Small details hidden everywhere you look. Good mix of materials inside including non-bland color schemes, soft touch materials in many areas, chrome accents highlighting controls, great tactile feel. |

| 2006 | 4dr Hatch 240-horsepower 3.9L V6 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
The materials feel solid and of good quality. Again, this car has been driven hard by my wife for 3 years, yet it has never been to the shop, and has worked flawlessly. |

| 2011 | 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.4L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
In the LT1 trim, the seats are cloth which is very good but door panels are hard plastic. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.4L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Where did GM find such terrible materials? The leather - hard and grainy. The plastics - strange colors, and noticeably thin. Why does the door not make an assuring "thud" when shut like my Optima does? GM could have done a LOT better in this department. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.4L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The car seems cheap, especially the interior materials--very plasticky. Of course, it was a rental. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 145-horsepower 2.2L I4 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
The interior is on an austerity plan, and the steering column makes click-thunk noises (a common issue on these cars). Also, the door locks failed (warranty issue...also common). |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 217-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Compared to previous car (VW Passat) the interior plastics are cheap and squeaky. Seat material looks very hard wearing but also very cheap. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 145-horsepower 2.2L I4 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Cheap materials on seats. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 200-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Most of the parts are made in Korea. The fuel sender unit had silver contacts and corroded after using high-sulphur cheap gas. Front struts are weeping. |
| 2004 | 4dr Hatch 200-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Cheap plastics. Panels not fitting correctly. Interior has many rattles. Many buttons failed and had to be replaced. |
| 2004 | 4dr Hatch 200-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Rear sunroof shade pops out of position if wind hits it. Front seat bottom has come loose. |
| 2002 | 4dr Sedan 170-horsepower 3.1L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
Generally poor build quality in the interior. Steering wheel showed signs of aging after 40k miles; button label worn off. |
What Our Members Are Saying about Ford Focus Materials and Workmanship

| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The car is well built and thus far the quality has been spot on. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Fit and finish are vastly superior to previous-generation Focus (2000-2007). Interior is quiet, with Lexus-like panel fit and finish. |
| Materials and Workmanship of the Ford Focus: Cons | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2012 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Much better than the old Focus, but the plastics are still pretty cheesy in spots. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Carpet fraying. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
The quality of the materials in the Focus is definitely very cheap. A lot of hard, cheap plastic is used. |
| 2008 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Passenger seat rattles if the backrest is too straight and a bit of plastic around the defroster vent is warped. The steering wheel button labels are wearing off as well. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The workmanship and interior design is not great. Little rattles are showing up and I don't think I should be trying to silence them with my own little car-hacks. How much more could it have cost, Ford, to do this better? |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
As stated, this is a cheap car. Other than the engine block and frame, the car is built of cheap materials and it shows. A car that is only seven years old should not be falling apart on the inside! I am a single person, no kids, no family to haul around, and I take very good care of my car and keep it clean--and the seats, front armrest console, and plastics on the dash look worn out or have broken. Also, there are numerous noises that occur when the accelerator is pressed down even slightly, and the repair shop is not able to determine the cause or stop it from happening. Also, Ford kind of skimped on the safety features, so if you have a side-impact wreck, the odds are good you will have some serious injuries. I would not recommend this car for families with kids over the age of five, as there are no head restraints in the back seats. |
| 2006 | 2dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Very cheap and ill fitting interior materials. Trim pieces misaligned, trim over door frames coming loose, plastic flashing on almost all surfaces. Needs more sound proofing. |
| 2005 | 4dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The over all cheap, rental car feeling |
| 2002 | 2dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
Cheap materials used in sensitive areas. |
