Apr 2011 4000 0 I always use the auto trans in manual mode. When shifting from 2nd it would go into neutral momentarily before going into 3rd about 10 percent of the time. Dealer said transmission firmware couldn't learn when manual mode always used. Dealer reproduced problem and contacted BMW who said I needed to drive more miles with transmission in D instead of manual mode in order for transmission to "learn." But could not tell me how many miles I needed to drive this way.

Oct 2008 9000 0 High Pressure Fuel Pump went out on me and the car was undriveable. Had to have it towed to Motorwerks BMW in MSP 5 hours away, where they took 4 days to complete the repair before it was returned to me.  
Sep 2009 26000 0 Check Engine Light came on twice, but after an engine restart, it went away. Then, cold starts started taking longer and longer to turn over. High Pressure Fuel Pump was replaced for a second time. 
Jul 2010 35000 0 High Pressure Fuel Sensor had to be replaced in late July and after getting the car back and not being driven for a week, the car takes longer than normal start ups and white smoke is pouring out of the mufflers. Cause still to be determined 
Aug 2010 36500 0 Entire Fuel system was replaced. Fuel injectors, low pressure fuel sensor, high pressure fuel pump and valves were cleaned.

Jul 2008 620 0 Engine is slightly lumpy at idle, but the engine runs fine while cruising or accelerating. Drive by wire throttle input requires slightly heavy foot to get the car moving off the line. When the car does decide to move forward, it pulls a bit hard. Smooth start off the line is impossible to achieve. No problems while cruising though.

Dealer reports car started everytime they tested it while at their shop.

Apr 2011 26000 0 High pressure fuel pump failed and BMW is repairing all of their cars suffering from this manufacturing defect. High pressure fuel pump and several fuel injectors were replaced by the BMW dealer at no charge.

Only had water pump & belts replaced as overhaul was too costly. Cooling System had leaks after leaving mechanic. Replaced Thermostat with housing, Upper & Lower hoses, Radiator, Expansion Tank, ET Cap, Water Pump. No more leaks but coolant level low warning on dash. Bleeding to attempt fix.
