Best Reason Not to Buy the Audi A5 / S5: Color choices Audi has good color choices, but there are a limited number of them (unless you want to spend $2500 or so for exclusive Audi colors). A great balance between performance and comfort A member from California, United States Best Reason to Buy the Audi A5 / S5: Past personal experience I owned a 1998 A4 - logging 234,000 miles on it - prior to purchasing the S5. The A4 was fun to drive, extremely reliable, comfortable, and well built. Even with suspension upgrades (sport springs and shocks) early in its life, the body had no creaks or rattles. It looked nearly new when I sold it and is still going strong with its new owner. Best Reason Not to Buy the Audi A5 / S5: Fuel economy I knew what gas mileage the S5 got long before I stepped onto the dealer lot. Still, I get 24 mpg on a full highway run. Engine has already stopped on idle rpm once right after a start-up, oil level was temporarily unavailable on display, one of the headlights is no longer waterproof (moist inside). Odometer is currently only 4000 miles. Best Reason Not to Buy the Audi A5 / S5: Powertrain performance Obvious turbo lag, lacking power if trying to pass in high gear. Low gear acceleration is excellent though. Best Reason Not to Buy the Audi A5 / S5: Dealership practices There is no dealer support once you purchase the car. The service centers (except 1 that I found) act like they are doing you a favor each time there a warranty issue, I mean really? $55k, they should roll out the red carpet.
