2012 4dr Sedan turbocharged 211hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual AWD
Very surprised! Drive 80 Hwy / 20 City driving. If I watch how I accelerate (cruising speed not so much; I drive 110-125 on hwy). Averaging 6-7.5L/100km. (700+km per 55L tank every fill up).
2011 4dr Sedan supercharged 333hp 3.0L V6
7-speed automated manual AWD
Despite the supercharger and high performance, this vehicle gives me about 6.8l/100km on the highway on average - amazing fuel efficiency. This is a very welcome bonus.
2010 4dr Sedan supercharged 333hp 3.0L V6
7-speed automated manual AWD
27mpg at 70mph
2010 4dr Sedan turbocharged 211hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual AWD
Better than expected highway mileage. Averaged 34mpg on a 350-mile trip last weekend, keeping speed to about 60mph. Commuting mileage is acceptable.
2009 4dr Sedan turbocharged 211hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual AWD
30mpg is easy to achieve with modest driving, even with the turbo.
2008 4dr Wagon turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Good tradeoff of performance and mileage. Previous VW 1.8t owner, viewed this as an upgrade.
2008 4dr Sedan turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual AWD
higher than others with less power

6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
averaging 24.4 mpg - not bad
2008 4dr Sedan turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4

Great fuel economy if driven easily, but is a great performer if pushed. Best of both worlds.
2007 2dr Convertible turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Car is very fast yet still is a 4-cyl that gets 30mpg. Also has AWD without being an SUV that gets 18mpg.

2006 4dr Sedan turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual AWD
I do all 80 kph roads and on those I get consistently low-40 mpg, 7 l/100k even though there is lots of tearing thru apexes and assaulting hills.
2006 4dr Sedan turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
for as much weight and features that this car carries, the gas mileage seems very liveable granted you drive it with a light touch.
2005 4dr Sedan turbocharged 170hp 1.8L I4
6-speed manual AWD
Fantastic! i get 22-28 in the city ( depending on how I drive) and abouy 34-36 on higway using cruise control.

Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 Fuel Economy: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2010 4dr Sedan supercharged 333hp 3.0L V6
7-speed automated manual AWD
Avg about 18-20 mpg on real world highways. City can be as poor as 12-14.
2010 4dr Sedan turbocharged 211hp 2.0L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Quattro and turbocharged engine form a thirsty combination. I would have expected 700+ highway kms but typically get only 600.
2008 2dr Convertible 420-horsepower 4.2L V8
6-speed manual AWD
No 420hp car is going to sip fuel, but the fuel tank is small (14.5 gallons) and thus needs filled too often.
2008 4dr Sedan turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual AWD
The diesel version has MORE torque and power AND has a far better range (about 700 miles for 2L diesel engine), I dislike the 22-24 mpg for the combined driving (mostly city). Those are still good numbers for its class. Sucks when have to pay $3.87/gallon
2007 4dr Sedan 255-horsepower 3.1L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Overall fuel economy barely acceptable on premium fuel. Highway fuel economy is fine but city economy stinks. 21 MPG driving 70% highway miles. However, better than Infiniti G35x
2007 4dr Wagon turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
I guess this is average for a car like this. Keep off the turbo and things improve.
2007 4dr Sedan 255-horsepower 3.1L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
only averaging 17 mpg
2006 4dr Sedan turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Not as good as advertised.
2006 4dr Sedan 255-horsepower 3.1L V6
6-speed manual AWD
Not bad, but not great either
2006 4dr Wagon 255-horsepower 3.1L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
not as good as it should be in my opinion, although in line with the (newer more realistic) EPA figures.
2005 4dr Sedan 340-horsepower 4.2L V8
6-speed manual AWD
The great engine encourages the use of its power, which affects economy. All wheel drive does not help.
2005 4dr Sedan 340-horsepower 4.2L V8
6-speed manual AWD
Large SUV territory
2004 4dr Sedan 340-horsepower 4.2L V8
6-speed manual AWD
If prices at the pump make your blood pressure rise, or make your wallet whimper...DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!
City driving it will go through a tank in about 150 miles
combined driving one tank is about 220 miles
Highway driving, expect to see 350 to 400 miles from the 17 gallon tank.
2004 2dr Convertible 340-horsepower 4.2L V8
6-speed manual AWD
If driven aggressively, fuel economy is very poor. And it takes premium.
2002 4dr Sedan 220-horsepower 3.0L V6
6-speed shiftable CVT FWD
EPA estimates are very low (19/27), though I usually get better than the estimates (25/33).
2002 4dr Wagon turbocharged 170hp 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Very poor economy for a small car
2001 4dr Wagon 190-horsepower 2.8L V6
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Fuel economy was OK, but not great. For a car this size it is lower than I would like to see. We averaged 19 MPG just about everywhere. Our average driving is a mix of highway and town. AWD and a V6 take their toll. Also the car is on the heavy side.
2000 4dr Sedan turbocharged 250hp 2.7L V6
6-speed manual AWD
Low economy. Compared to other newer cars. Requires premium.
