What Our Members Are Saying about Audi A3 Reliability and Durability

Reliability and Durability of the Audi A3: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2007 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
The car is build like a tank.
2006 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed automated manual FWD
No problems
2006 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
In 2006 the car was offered with 4 years free maintenance.
Reliability and Durability of the Audi A3: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2013 4dr Hatch turbocharged 140hp 2.0L I4 Diesel
6-speed automated manual FWD
Not so much. It's been in the shop for various reasons 25 days in the first 8 months of ownership.
2008 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed automated manual FWD
From what I read and hear from Audi owners, these are not cheap to maintain, and the maintenance is a little too frequent.
2007 4dr Hatch 250-horsepower 3.2L V6
6-speed automated manual AWD
There seems to be a steady parade of high dollar systematic issues with Audi vehicles. Every vehicle has maintenance issues, but this Audi has had design problems (sunshade, roof trim, ign coil, roof trim, HID bulbs).
2006 4dr Hatch turbocharged 105hp 1.9L I4 Diesel
5-speed manual FWD
Audi is not listed in car makers reliability top 10. They are known to have various problems, definitely not the choice to go for if reliability is your top priority.
2006 4dr Hatch turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
Audi has a reputation for selling maintenance-intensive cars and having owned several VWs I was not looking to Audi for being the most trouble-free option.
