In a word, bulletproof. Almost 3-1/2 years of trouble free urban driving and with annual 2800 mile round trips from Seattle to Chula Vista, CA. Aside from free 1st dealer service, zero trips back to the dealer as I do my own maintenance/lubrication

6-speed manual FWD
Nothing breaks ever
2007 4dr Sedan 286-horsepower 3.5L V6

2002 4dr Sedan 260-horsepower 3.2L V6

When we got the 02 Acura, there was a transmission problem. The Acura Dealer replaced it ASAP under the warranty. Since then, nada. No problems with the 88 Acura in the 11 years we owned it.

Reliability and Durability of the Acura TL: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr Sedan 258-horsepower 3.2L V6

The engine was blowing blue within the first 6 months of ownership. The transmission was jerky from day one.
2005 4dr Sedan 270-horsepower 3.2L V6
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
At 45k miles already have three broken engine mounts, steering rack is leaking and worn excessively, torn control arm bushings, torque converter is starting to fail. Trans will fail around 75k miles.

Premature transmission failure #1 @73,900.
2003 4dr Sedan 260-horsepower 3.2L V6
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
The transmission failed at about 70,000 miles.
